You are holding indoor events on a regular basis? Then you have probably come in touch with our Tri-Frame base plate. Our base plate is particularly suitable for slim indoor constructions. Like this, they can e.g. be used for free standers or points of sale.
Your wish is our command
So far, the ballasting has been built in behind the base plate. Recently, however, we were frequently asked to be able to attach the ballasting at the front as well. We went along with that wish and expanded the statics for the base plate. Hereby it is important to note that this statics is only compatible with the base plate V2. With the new static calculation, it is now possible to attach the tilt safety device to the front part of the base plate. This makes it possible to place the billboard closer to a wall. This is a win especially for fair stands. However, we are taking a step further. Along with the new calculations, we had another construction statically approved – and it is a tough one!
Previous construction variants
Let us take a look at the previous assembly option with the Tri-Frame base plate. So far, the three construction variants had the ballasting at the back.
- The stiffening of each cabinet: if every individual cabinet needs to be stiffened, one gets a width of half a meter per base plate. A height of up to 5 meters is possible if a ballasting of 179kg is attached to the back.
- The stiffening of every other cabinet: when stiffening every other cabinet, one meter per base plate is used. Here, a height of up to 5 meters is possible if a ballasting of 179kg is attached to the back.
- The stiffening of every third cabinet: when stiffening every third cabinet, the base plate carries cabinets with a width of 1.5 meters. With a ballasting of 210kg, one can build up to 4 meters in height.
The more cabinets are used with a base plate, the more ballasting is necessary with a lower height. In reverse conclusion this means: if you want to build high, you have to take a lot of luggage with you to the event site. Either in form of Tri-Frames and base plates of ballasting. That adds up to a lot.

New construction variants
In addition to calculating the ballasting on the front of the base plate, we also had the statics calculated for a 1.5-meter-long pipe through both holes of the base plate. Around 433mm are still peaking out from the front of the base plate – the ballasting is placed at the back. This opens completely new possibilities!
With a height of up to 3 meters, ballasting is no longer necessary. And that goes for all three stiffening types. In detail it becomes visible that we have a gain in permissible height:
- The stiffening of each cabinet (0.5m stele): the extended tilt safety device enables a height of up to 8 meters with a ballasting of 56kg.
- The stiffening of every other cabinet (1.0m stele): with 155kg of ballasting, you can build up to 7 meters in height.
- The stiffening of every third cabinet (1.5m stele): with a 1.5m wide stele, there is a win of 2m in height. Now a height of 6 meters is possible when 205kg are used.
Conclusion
Overall, it becomes clear that the extended static calculation comes with many advantages. A construction of up to 8m indoors was so far only possible with our Tri-Frame studding and long cantilevers. In comparison to the studding, the base plate convinces with its slim design. You can find a complete comparison between Tri-Frame base plate and studding here. Furthermore, with a height of up to 3 meters, you no longer need ballasting – this does not only save you time, but also gas money. We hope that you can travel with less luggage in the future!
