Nowadays, most LED walls are built of SMD LEDs. An SMD LED pixel consists of three LEDs in the colours red, green, and blue, which are emerged to one single component, which is connected directly with the circuit board.
The fundamental advantages of SMD technology are the low depth and the from this resulting higher viewing angle (in part 140 degrees per horizontal and vertical). Since 2014, LedTek has been using almost exclusively SMD LEDs and offers pixel pitches starting from 2.6mm and from 0,93mm for our Ledbrix. SMD LED series are nowadays almost always the better choice. Even outdoors, SMDs provide enough brightness and will replace DIP LEDs over the next years to a large extent. Furthermore, SMD LED walls offer in contrast to DIP LED walls qualitatively more high-end, flicker free and more stable images.
